if you have to ask that here, it shows what a con the whole government scheme is.
you are about to become less popular than a traffic warden.
How on earth can you call yourself an assessor when you dont even know the difference in walls. But then again please come to my house, i could probably tell you anything if you are using the web to make for no building knowledge.
EXTRA - Im with you 'on thin ice' I think Zewie does not understand what the scheme is, but is good with search engines.
Does your survey take into account the energy gained / lost from south facing and north facing properties? or those in the middle of terrace rather than a gable end ?? ps. Gable is the bit on the end of terraced row.
Are you working North Yorkshire? please say yes !!

No disrespect to you as a person, I admire your recognition of yet another quick buck in the market place but I agree with the first two answers.
If you don't know how to recognise headers and stretchers, if you think 'flemish bond' is some sort of Dutch Insurance Policy and the only 'bats' are in the attic, can't recognise different types of DPC's, if a 'wall plate' is something you hang on the wall as a souvenir ornament and 'stud partitions' are some thing to separate stallions from the mares at the racing stables I despair for all the people who are going to be ripped of as a consequence of this ill thought out Govt. scheme which will do nothing to speed up house sales. I wouldn't trust the vendors reports I'd get my own. I do not need you to come and ask me what my annual energy bill is, to work out my floor area and divide one set of figures into another to tell me my energy costs per sq. metre. I do have cavity walling, mountains of loft insulation, double glazing, thermostatic radiator valves and low energy bulbs. I do not need someone to tell me I might save even more if I add more insulation, and how will you know if the low energy bulbs you base your report on have only been borrowed from my neighbour and I'll give them back when you're gone.
Edit I. As I anticipated an instant thumbs down from you and no were not being mean, one must seriously question the standard of tuition being given, It doesn't inspire confidence in the process, I'm not necessarily blaming the 'students'.

if the wall of the house has holes in the bottom of it all around ever so often it means that when the house was built it did not have cavity wall insulation in it due to that is where they spray the foam in

What a load of meanies answering you. Did you not state you are learning? Huh, they must have started somewhere, and to answer you like that is contravening Yahoo rules. I am no building engineer but think that if you do a google search you should find exactly what you are looking for.
I've found a few sites which may be of help to you. Good luck pet.
